Why the world needs editors

This is a door on the fourth floor that leads from our building to the adjoining one. Every time I go through it and read the sign, I snicker.

  1. I probably would have taken a sharpie to that thing long ago and made some corrections.

  2. Reminds me of the fun we had last night with the 'roll up your self' salad rolls on the menu at the Ox Head Vietnamese restaurant in Kanata.

  3. Am I missing something? Alarmed from 6 pm to 6 am during the week and round the clock on weekends and holidays, right?

  4. Whew, I'm not the only one! I am going to risk total public humiliation and admit that I see nothing wrong with this sign. If I gave you a sharpie, how would you change it?

  5. The way it stands now, the meaning is that if you were to open the door at 9:30 a.m., the alarm would begin to sound at 6 p.m. And possibly continue to sound until 6 a.m.

    It should read

"Opening this door between 18:00 and 6:00, Monday to Friday, will cause an alarm to sound."

I giggle every time I go through the door, imagining the alarm going off all night because I'm going through the door during the day.

  6. That made me snort out my steeped tea. I've been reading your blog for hours! There's nothing more wonderful than a funny blogger. I try and fail on so many levels LOL!

I didn't realize how much I enjoyed Ottawa blogs until I found some. I'm near Andrew Haydon Park. Nice to "meet" you! I'll be back often!
